The Jay Wallis trio was formed in 1998 by three musicians all living and working professionally in Barcelona. Trumpeter & singer Jay Wallis, guitarist David Mitchell and  the bass player Nono Fernández.
Mainly Influenced by the trio of Chet Baker and singers like Billie Holliday, Carmen McRae, Mel Torme, Tony Bennett and Sarah Vaughan. The trio uses a varied repertoire that revises tunes from the American songbook and "standards" from composers such as Duke Ellington, Cole Porter. Richard Rodgers, Theolonius Monk and George Gershwin. Intergrating the voice and trumpet with the guitar and bass to create a powerfull acoustic sound the style of music is one that reflects jazz from the swing era of the 1940s through to the cooler style of the 1950s & 60s.
